I need some help....in simple terms i can understand. We are thinking of buying another 100 points at SSR or Vero Beach. Obviously the best price is through the resale method, can anyone answer the following question (i've tried finding the answers on the forum but no luck):

If were to buy 100 via resale method does this transaction get put through Member Services so when you ring to book they would know we have another 100 points?

Thanks in advance for de-confusing me!:confused3:confused3

After your closing, you will be put in the DVC system. It took a bit less than a week for me. It may have been because we were existing members.

If you purchase the same UY and title the purchase the same as your existing contract(s), the points will be added to your existing account.

If you purchase a different UY or title it differently, you will be given an additional member number and account for the new purchase.

Other than the obvious downsides of having to transfer points between accounts or link reservations (if that can be done) if the reservations are done in the different accounts, are there any positives to having multiple accounts?

Some people think that having 2 different UYs isn't a issue and they intend to book 2 vacations per year using points from each.

We own 2 different UYs by mistake. We didn't know better when we first bought and we find that all it does is complicate things. If the resale prices weren't in the crappier, we would sell off one.

if you have different UYs (and don't mind the extra work of keeping track of different UYs), you have different banking windows.

traveling in the last few months of your UY is riskier because you are past your banking window and if you need to cancel once your banking window has closed, you risk losing your pts. having 2 UYs can allow you to book with a contract where your stay is in the earlier part of the UY.

for most, it's not worth the extra trouble. but if you routinely travel to disney a couple of times a year at different times of the year, it can be a benefit...
