If you already own one resort but want new, less than 160 pts for another, different resort, can you but direct from DVC?
Or can you only add on to ther same resort?

I own 100 BWV but also want 50 BCV. I understand that I can buy direct add ons for BWV, but can I buy direct BCV for less than 160?

My understanding is that yes, you can. It will have to be the same UY though so you may be waitlisted until something is available. I've seen a BCV thread where some people have been waiting for over a year!!!! (edit - but some lucky UY's have managed to add on immediately)

Yes, you can purchase small conracts for other resorts, as long as they have the same use year available through DVC. They will be added to your current membership account number, but will legally be a separate contract if you decide to sell it in the future. The points can only be used at their respective resorts at 11 months, but can be combined at 7 months.

An advantage to buying small contracts directly through Disney is that there are no closing costs for existing members.

Who do you call to add on? I originally bought through resale and haven't gotten into this 'guide' stuff. How small is the amount of points that can be purchased and does it have to be for the same resort? I.E., I own at BCV and would like a small contract for BWV (if I'm understanding correctly, just has to be the same UY).
Thanks

Yes, the same use year, and to buy direct from Disney, just call the sales number. You will be surprised to learn you actually DO have a guide. It sounds like they aren't a very attentive one though, because any guide worth his/her salt would have called to welcome you and ask if you wanted more points! :rotfl:

i bought in resale also and one of the first things they do is assign you a sales guide. it's probably in your paperwork somewhere (or emails if you get them) but they have assigned you one.

as prior posters have said, you can add on at ANY resort, subject to availability in your use year month. (as chuck said though, don't expect to use your new BWV pts to book BCV at 11 months...but banking and borrowing can make your pts at each resort go further.)

you can add on 25+ pts if you pay cash, or 50+ pts if you need to finance. (if you need odd numbers like 53 pts or 67 pts, you can do that.)

thanks for the info, what's the phone#????

No emails nor calls from a guide. Not important to me though.

We didn't know who are guide was until we got some promo material in the mail with his name on it. We bought resale and we got the info a few weeks after we closed.

No emails or calls though.

One of the great advantages to buying an add-on through Disney (as I learned just yesterday) is the nearly immediate availability of the new points. I purchased a 100 point add-on at SSR yesterday. I received the bonus incentive of 100 2007 points that were available for booking within 2 hours!! I immediately banked them (I have a Sept UY) and booked my November trip.

Debbie, you may need to go resale for BWV, not because of the number of points, but because you live in Seattle (like me  ). When I was looking at buying BWV this time last year, DVC was not able to sell that property in WA. I would have had to go to WDW or Anaheim to sign. It was really annoying. I ended up buying the 2 properties that could be sold over the phone to WA - SSR and AKV.
