The sponsor of this site might be best able to supply the information I am seeking.

It makes sense to me to buy an add on at the DVC resort which has, on average, the best resale value. Which one is it?

BWV so far - but in a few years I expect BCV to give them a run for their money - of course since BWV were less expensive to buy orginially - you might find one that is a bargin.

While anyone having purchased from the onset or even as late as 2001 has seen pretty respectable inflation on resale prices (helped out by Disney's ROFR), that won't last forever. Over time, the resale values will decline as the contracts approach their expiration in 2042.

So, I wouldn't counsel anyone to buy based upon a suspected increase in the resale value of a specific location, particularly if that is not a place where you'd really want to stay.

Having said that, if one were to play the resale market, I'd say the Disney properties have the best bet of maintaining their resale values, giving a slight edge to BCV, BWV, and VWL over OKW.

I would agree with BWV.
Also, I would anticipate that it will remain that way for awhile simply because of the two tiered point system....as time goes by I think that we will see that it is still more difficult to get standard views at certain times at BWV as oppossed to rooms at BCV at the 7 month window.

I would say that resale value of a timeshare should NOT be a consideration when buying. Yes, I can get more for my points then when I bought them, but if you add back the maintenance I am not really making much money.

Timeshares should NEVER be considered and investment and you should buy where you want to stay (or trade from) solely based on your enjoyment.

Just my opinion- Buying where I want to stay in order to provide great family vacations is WAY more important than a few extra bucks 20 years down the road. If money was the object, I would have bought at some off-site timeshare, and saved a bundle. Buy where you will enjoy most, as the best investment is in your happiness.

I agree with the others in that do not buy DVC as an investment to make money from but as an investment in wonderful vacations for your family for the next 39 years.
As for the resale value of the resorts, so far BWV has overall had the highest resale values with WLV & BCV not far behind, however I think it is only a matter of time before BCV equals BWV in resale value or even surpasses both BWV & WLV.
