Crazy question if we buy resale first ...... waiting on a response to our first offer on BLT..... then later add on with a direct contact but a smaller contract of 50 points then later add on another 50 points direct will they consider that as 100 points direct to get the perks or does it have to be a purchase of 100 direct all at once???

curious to be honest.....

thank u

You can do the small direct contracts to build towards benefits, however be wary that they may increase the minimum number of direct points required for a blue card at any time. If you haven’t yet met the minimum, you’d have to meet the new threshold

that said, we bought direct last year and are trying to buy resale this year. I wish I did it in reverse - it’s very hard to find the right resale with the correct use year

Yes, you can buy 4 25 point direct contracts you just need to total 100 direct points.

Tru Dat at one point it was only 75 points

Yes - smart move to buy resale first! We did the opposite, and it is harder to find the perfect fit resale with the same use year.

Very good question as I've been wondering the exact same thing. One thing to consider based on an answer in a DVC is that Disney will make your use year the same as your resale use year if you already have one. So make sure you like your use on the resale purchase. I passed on a resale for this exact reason.

My initial plan is to do the same thing. Buy resale and then direct. With a March UY, I'm running into the issue of the resale process dragging (passed ROFR, but not closed yet) where I might not get my membership ID until the month of March.

I'm doing a inquiry for a direct point purchase with (OKL or SSR) with March UY now so that I can take advantage of the 2019 UY points before Mar 1, 2020. I could always defer to 2021 to buy direct, but you don't know if the 100 minimum points would jump up and you know direct price per point would increase anyways.

So if I decide to go that route, I'm technically getting direct first (which a potential welcome home reservation to take advantage of) and then resale 2nd. This is because of my UY, so your situation might be different.

Strategic timing on your purchases, but it was a good plan to know which use year you obtained in resale so you could match that buying Direct !

When I looked into direct the agent was pushing me to get a December UY which I do not want. I have to travel due to work in the summer which won’t change. He rubbed me the wrong way with his tactics.... pushed big time to look into resale

Just to clarify that CCV and RIV have minimum of 50 points so I don’t believe they allow those 2 resorts to do the 25 point x 4.
