If a resale is purchased, does the end date of the property reset or does the buyer start where the original owner left off. If that makes sense.

When you purchase a resale, you are purchasing an existing contract. So the end will be fixed - it will be the same as in the contract the original purchasers signed for. That includes if they purchased the OKW extension, if they purchased it, then you are buying it from them.

The end dates for the resort contracts are fixed, regardless of when they were purchased. For example, BWV contracts expire on Jan 31, 2042 whether you purchased there the first day it went on sale or you purchase it directly from Disney today. The same end date applies to BCV, HHI, VB, VWL and non-extended OKW contracts. SSR contracts expire Jan 31, 2054 and AKV contracts expire Jan 31, 2057. I believe the BLT contracts will expire Jan 31, 2060.

OKW contracts can have one of two end dates, either Jan 31, 2042 or Jan 31, 2057 if you purchase an extended contract. As Carol said, if you purchase on the resale market, you are purchasing an existing contract. So in the case of OKW, you would need to know whether you were purchasing a contract that had been extended or not. If you purchase OKW directly from Disney, they sell the extended contract.

Expiration year doesn't change on resale purchase or direct purchase through Disney for any resort. An exception so to speak is OKW which if you did decide to make your purchase direct through Disney then that OKW contract will be an Extended OKW contract with 2057 expiration.

If you buy an unextended OKW resale you may still have the option to extend that contract through Disney once that contract is finalized & has closed - this was available to do at $20 per point couple months back but was expected to increase to $25 per point ( when this extension was first offered to OKW owners around Oct/Nov 2007 it was at $15 per point )

As noted by CarolAnn if you purchase OKW resale it may be Unextended OKW contract (2042 expiration) or the seller may have purchased the extension in which case that contract will expire in 2057.

2054 - SSR

2057 - AKV and OKW Extended
