For those that have thought about purchasing DVC through resale, here is the timeline for our most recent purchase at BWV. There are a multitude of factors that can make your resale purchase a faster or slower process so use this only as an example.
Realtor - Rachel Thompson @ Fidelity Resales
Title Co - First American Title
2/03/10 - Made offer via email; Rec'd email that seller accepted offer
2/04/10 - Rec'd contract via email
2/05/10 - Faxed contract to Fidelity and wired deposit
2/09/10 - Contract submitted to Disney for ROFR
3/04/10 - Rec'd notice that Disney waived ROFR (28 days)
3/08/10 - Title company rec'd estoppel from Disney
3/16/10 - Contacted realtor asking about closing documents. Fidelity contacted title company and found they had mailed them instead of emailing. Title company emailed closing documents. Noticed they had mispelled our address which is why we had not received them. Faxed signed closing documents back and wired balance of funds due. Rec'd email from title company that contract was closed and paperwork sent to Disney. All this on the same day.
3/18/10 - Contacted Disney and contract was not in system yet. Gave Disney name of seller and contract details. They found contract and said it should be transferred by the end of the day.
3/19/10 - Called Disney and contract was in system. Added a day to current reservation and made new reservation for Dec, 2010 at BWV. Banked remaining points into next UY.
Less than 45 days from offer until in Disney system and using points!!
How is that for some magic?!!
