Got my weekly email from dvcbyresale today and noticed a whole slew of new resales. But what struck me was the point totals being sold - 250, 500, 750, and even 1000 point contracts all at AKV.

While I'm only in for 160 at BLT and can see adding some contracts along the way, it just seems impossible to consider anybody buying in at 1000 points. That's 86k. I guess that's why everyone talks about buying smaller contracts so if you had to move them down the road you can break it into manageable chunks.

I saw that contract on the site, what amazes me most is the price they are listing it for, good luck to them.

The very large contracts where purchased either by someone with money who didn't know that that could break them up or they were purchased by a business or corporation who didn't care.

:thumbsup2 I saw it too tonight and thought, "wouldn't it be nice to own....". That is more than what our house cost in 1994.

Hey, I put an offer in on one of those contracts tonight! But it was only a lowly 100 points

Seriously, just take a minute to think about this, what would you do with 1000 (or even 2000 I saw!) points?!!? I don't know where to begin. And if you banked and borrowed... yikes! Guess I'd be looking at GV's at Aulani! :thumbsup2

Well yeah, if I win the lotto and am suddenly a millionaire, a 1000 points will come in handy!

I'll have to make a note of that for whenever I start a big business. :cool1:

Have the corporation buy a lot of points like that and use it as incentive for my employees.

I was chatting with a person at Kroger the other day, and her boss gave a week's stay at SSR to her family. What a nice boss, and I didn't think to ask if it's something that's often done in her workplace.

It had never occurred to me that DVC would be something a big corporation would be involved in, like a box at a sports stadium, but that makes sense.
I was checking the resales yesterday and it seems like the prices just recently dropped again for most of the properties. BWV is selling in the $60's, AKV has many in the $70's...wow. The small contracts seem to be all that is really moving lately - not many folks are looking for anything over 200pts right now.

I didn't realize about all the businesses buying DVC until I started tracking contracts sold at BLT. I thought the businesses/corporations were buying because employees attended an annual convention at CR.

I never thought about businesses giving vacation stays to employees.

It makes sense, when we vacationed in the BVI, they were telling us Bill Gates bought a private island in the area and it was for Microsoft employees only.

They actually could have purchased them resale as well. If that is the case they had no choice but to buy the entire 1000 point contract.

They also could have bought from Disney from a guide who simply got way too exited that someone was buying 1000 points. Instead of realizing the situation and offering to break it up into five 200 point contracts the guide simply had him buy the entire 1000 points as one contract.

We don't own a "big" business, but we do book our office manager a stay once and a while.
