Resale lowest price (SSR)

I located some resales with all of 2008 points and at the most 20, 2007 points. For 200 points, I submitted bids to 4 or 5 different companies for around $ 75.00 a point. Most sellers accepted and want to move forward. Is it worth my time or should I bid higher. Do you think disney will buy them back or let me buy them. Thanks Bill

And just to summarize...there is only one resale that was approved below $80, and that was at $79. Disney exercised ROFR on my contract at $82 per point, but others have passed at that level....so it would very unlikely for you to pass ROFR at $75 pr pt.

I don't think you'll pass at $75. I think you'll make the SSR owners happy because they'll be getting their money from Disney. It depends if the money you might save is worth your time and effort. Not for me.

It's a little work and there are tax consideraions but what is the benefit of resale at even $75?

If you are not a curent member the development deal is not quite as good but still gets you under $80. No wonder the SSR resales are piling up.

plus why do you give a rate of $10 for renting some and then a rate of $13.50 to rent the rest?

thats not really too sound planning IMHO

take off the $10 for renting becuase you could potentially rent the points you buy resale as well and move the $13.50 back to $10 which is the preferred rate or renting(maybe $11)

and you are back to about $84

You're not following the math. The OP said $75 with 2008 points. I am assuming renting the developer points and the 2007 points @$10. You will still have all the 2008 points intact. I'll calculate the $13.50 for you.
200 point contract yields 270 developer points = $2700 (at $10) which yields $13.50 per contract point.
It makes perfect sense if you want to rent the points and probaly take no more time than you will invest in chasing all those ROFR'd contracts.

That presumes this is an add-on to an existing contract, yes? If it's an initial purchase, isn't the current incentive 160 developer points for a 225 point contract (if you have a referral)? The OP would have to purchase an add'l 25 points to get any developer points and it would "only" (still a nice amt!) get 160 dev points.

I presumed it was an initial purchase but if it's an add-on to the OP's existing DVC contract then it makes sense.

I've been following the ROFR thread myself (hoping to buy next year) and I would doubt that anything under $79 and probably not even under $80 would pass. But it's a no-cost risk to take if you have the time and motivation to try for them at $75.

You are correct - not as good for initial purchase but still one of the best deals offered historically. If you go resale I would recommend holding out for a loaded contract. They do go quickly though.

I honestly would not use the thread on this forum as your guide. I did. I was in the process of selling for $78 a point for two contracts - one at SSR and one at VWL.

Even thought it was less than any resales for those resorts had gone for on the thread, Disney didn't ROFR it. And the buyer backed out because of Disney's new $15 off a point deal.

So I am back to square one and now looking to sell at $74 a point to compete against Disney's deal. I think that Disney have reduced the price they will ROFR on because of their current discount. And I think $74 might just slip through and if it does the buyer will get a bargain. It isn't good for me though - I wish I'd sold before the deal came out.
