Is there a difference between the resale brokers? I have mainly been watching The Timeshare Store, DVC by Resale, and DVC Resale. Are there any others I should look at? Are there big differences in the closing costs? Which do you recommend? Totally new to the DVC thing just started researching about a week ago. We are looking for 50 points at Saratoga Springs to get started.

I contacted all three with the intent to buy based on who had the contract I wanted. You should look for the contract that meets your needs.

Same here, only we contacted four... The Timeshare Store, **********.com, Fidelity, and DVCbyresale.com. We went with the contracts that best matched what we wanted.

Thanks everyone. That other thread has great information. Right now I don't see any that are exactly what we are looking for. Guess we will just keep our eyes on all of them.

I would still contact them and tell them what you are interested in. Some were more responsive than others, but that's how we found what we wanted: sent by email, not on their website.

We found our first resale contract, a 50-pointer at BWV, by being contacted directly by the broker. Those small BWV's go very quickly, so we were grateful to get the heads-up on it early enough to purchase. However, I know some people are nervous giving the agent this information ahead of time, somehow thinking that if an agent knows what you want, they will advise the seller to ask for a higher price. I can honestly say that was also the case with our first resale purchase... we certainly paid premium dollar for that 50-pointer with the exact UY we wanted. I suppose it's a tradeoff...

Be sure you get on the agency's advance email alert list ( if they offer such notification ) so you can know of new listings before they're published on the website. The Timeshare Store offers this and we've had excellent, knowledgeable no-pressure experience with them :thumbsup2

Also, be aware that Fidelity ( & previously and maybe even still GMAC ) charge an additional 'administrative' fee of $195 that others don't; means more $ you don't need to pay but will if you purchase with them. jmho would never deal with an agency that charges it unless absolutely & positively convinced there was something so worthwhile about the contract that couldn't be found elsewhere.

Good luck on finding contract that is just right for you :goodvibes

I have to tell you, I used GMAC/Fidelity in the past and am looking again. I compared the list of contracts that Fidelity has vs what is listed on the Timeshare Store's website...and almost every contract I looked at on the Timeshare Store (for SSR) was completely stripped. The contracts from Fidelity all had banked points. Maybe this is just a fluke, but something to look further into.

Updated: I looked at the first 8 contracts for SSR listed and 7 out of the 8 are stipped of points. I understand that these are the lower cost contracts listed first, but still not good.

I also found this to be the case. Additionally, it seems that there are a lot more contracts with a lower asking price at Fidelity. On the offers we made there, it seemed like there were a lot of distress situations with Fidelity clients... contracts that had gone unused or perhaps had a history of unpaid maintenance fees... which has led me to believe that they have inventory that includes many contracts that Disney is in jeopardy of taking back (either voluntarily or involuntarily). This can be good or it can be bad. In one instance, we negotiated a great price on one contract because the sellers were distressed, but then we couldn't close because the divorcing pair couldn't agree when it was time to sign the paperwork. Sooooooo, let the buyer beware!

Very interesting information. Thanks

Like a pp stated contact them for an advanced email alert. You can also tell them exactly what you are looking for and they will let you know when it comes up. Many times the contracts listed on the advanced email don't even make it to the site listings. We were all ready to buy in January. Had found the perfect contract for us this way. Then DS21 car died. He commutes to school so this was a neccesity. He is paying for school through loans and stuff and we pay for the car. Well there went our money and now we have to wait till next year.
