I own 150 points at SSR. I am banking my 2005 points, use year is Sept.
I plan to vacation January 2007, with the 2005 points and the 2006 points. The question is:
Since my 2006 points do not become available until Sept 2006, DO I have to wait until then to make a Reservation using both allotments?

No. You can make reservations at SSR for January 2007 in February 2006.

Technically your 2006 points are available now. For example, you could borrow from your 2006 points for a stay any time between now and 8/31/06. I prefer this way of thinking about points that I think makes things more clear. With a Sept use year:

2005 points can be used for stays from 9/1/05 to 8/31/06
2006 points can be used for stays from 9/1/06 to 8/31/07
2007 points can be used for stays from 9/1/07 to 8/31/08
... and so on through the end of your contract

You banked all 150 of your 2005 year points so they are now 2006 year points giving you a total of 300 points that can be used for stays from 9/1/06 - 8/31/07. You plan to travel in Jan 2007. Assuming you have no other reservations for 9/1/06-8/31/07 then all of those 300 points can be used for that stay (just be sure to use up the 150 banked points first since those cannot be banked again and will expire on 8/31/07). If 300 points are not enough, you can also borrow some or all of your 2007 points for your stay in Jan 2007.

If you are staying at your home resort, you can book 11 months prior to your check out day using whatever points are available for use for stays on your travel dates.

I think this is the question that confuses new members the most. The thing to remember is all points usage is based on the date of stay, not the date you make the reservation. Points don't "drop" into your account on the first day of your use year, they are already there. Your 1/07 stay would be in your 2006 use year, so you can use banked 2005, current 2006, borrowed 2007 regardless of when you make the reservation. So not only could you use the 2006 points when you call next month, you could even borrow 2007.
