Rerenting points

Hi I have a problem I am hoping someone can advice me on.
I rented points from a DVC owner for a stay in Dec at the BCV.
I know I can not cancil the reservations but I am wondering if I could rerent the reservation out myself or does the owner of the BVC points have to do it. Any advice is appreated.

December is a very popular time. You should tell the person renting you the ressie that you will be unable to make the trip. That does put the person renting to you in a bit of a bind, as they need to re-rent the ressie, or the points go into a holding account, and they have to use them within a certain time.

At the very least you owe it to the person renting to you that you are having a schedule problem, and see if the two of you can work it out to your mutual satisfaction. Worst case scenario would be you are just out the money you paid them and the ressie goes unused, but I would think that would be unlikely. Looking over on the Rent/Trade board, there seem to be a few ppl who are desperate for a WDW ressie for December. They may be able to use your ressie, in which case you might even get a full refund.

I agree - notify the owner asap. He/She may be able to find someone else to use the ressie. Then all that has to be done is a name change to the ressie. Depending on your agreement, you may be able to get back some of the money you paid.

Only the owner can make changes to the reservation - you can't do anything on your own except maybe help the owner find someone else to take the reservation.

If you need to cancel and your agreement with the member won't allow any refund.- the member will need to change the name on the reservation for you when you find your own renter.

I'd sure contact the member as soon as possible to discuss your situation,
