Hi, I'm trying to figure out our best RER train ticket option for our upcoming trip and would like some advice.

We're staying at Val d'Europe and are planning to visit Paris on the Saturday and Sunday and then DLP on Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu.

There's 5 of us [youngest is 12] , so would we be best to buy a Viste ticket each or keep buying carnets of 10 and share them out? I think with the Viste it's valid for a maximum of 5 days, so we'd have to buy another one day one each or maybe single tickets for our 6th day.

Any ideas what would work out best and cheapest?

Thanks.

The ticket you will need to get into Paris is different to what you will use the days you are going to DLP due to the zones.
When we visited Paris we bought a mobilis ticket (I think it was slightly cheaper than Paris Visite) which allows you travel to and from DLP to Paris and then to use the metro round Paris - I think it costs about €13 for one day. - I googled Mobilis Paris and got the info

The ticket you need to get from Val d'Europe to DLP each day only costs a couple of Euros each

The Paris Visite honestly is only for unsuspecting tourists, as it is priced higher and includes options that you most likely will not use unless you are planning to spend several days in Paris seeing a lot of touristy sites. The www.ratp.fr site doesn't show all the options if one changes the language to English, so best to keep it in French.

As A Small World posted, the mobilis is often the best value, and for val d'Europe a point to point ticket ie 1,30 Euros is the best option.

A weekly Carte Orange is another option; the week begins on a Monday, but a 5 zone ticket is 32,10 Euros so it really is only beneficial for someone who is in Paris for several days. A five zone mobilis is 12,50 Euros, while a Paris Visite for 6 zones is 18 and 27,50 Euros for one and two days.

As you can see, for two days the mobilis is still the better option - for one planning a longer trip in and around Paris the Carte Orange can be a better option, if their days of travel fall within the Monday to Sunday week.

I tend to purchase a mobilis or a point to point ticket, as usually I am not free during the week and do most of my travel in and around Paris on weekends. Every so often however I do find the Carte Orange is the best value for me, depending on my days of travel and zones travelled.

Thank you both.

I was getting myself all confused over this and you've made it clear for me :thumbsup2 .
