Does the RER operate long enough to allow us to stay for the DLP fireworks at night and still head back to our apartment in Paris? We are going mid-March 2015.

We will be traveling from Châtelet - Les Halles station to Marne-la-Vallée - Chessy and it will be an all day adventure!

Also - we are a family of 6.... I am assuming we should just buy 6 round trip tickets for our day trip to DLP. I plan to by carnets of tickets for using the Metro while exploring Paris other days, but those won't work for the RER A to DLP, correct?

Last RER leaves MLV-Chessy at 00.20am so you will be in fine time going mid March where the park will be shutting early, no worries.

They go every 10-15 minutes and there will be a lot of people taking the RER when Dreams finish

Your carnet of tickets are zones1-2 and DLP is zone 5 so you are correct, they won't work to get out there.

You want to get a ticket called a billet Origine-Destination.

Now one way costs 7.50€ pp over the age of 10 and 3.75€ for a 4-9 year old.

If you buy a carnet of 10 of these tickets it will cost you 60€ instead of 75€ so if all your party are over the age of 10, buying a carnet and 2 indivual tickets is like pay for 5 get the 6th free :goodvibes

This is interesting - 5 of the 6 of us are over 10. So buying individual tickets would be 15€ times 5, plus 7€ for the youngest... making the total round trip 82€

Alternatively we get a carnet for the 5 at 60€ and then pay the individual price for the youngest making the total 67€

Did I understand that right? THANK YOU!

Where is the best place to buy these tickets? Online or at the RER station?

Are they dated or "anytime" use?

Yes you've got it :thumbsup2

You can buy them at the same time as you buy your carnet of metro tickets - just ask for a carnet of tickets from Paris to MLV-Chessy.

Don't forget to start using the ticket when you leave your hotel in Paris rather than using one of the other carnet if the journey starts in the metro before changing to the RER A.

The tickets are not dated and you can use them indefinitly - I have un used tickets that are 10 years old and still are valid :goodvibes

I am trying to figure out similar travel and I found out what day of travel if Sat or Sun that matters.
If your travel day is Sat OR Sun AND some are under age 26 look or ask about Mobilis Jeunes. If not never mind. I am afraid I just told you everything I know because our trip is not on the weekend.

Ah you are talking about Ticket Jeunes Week-end - good point ;)

If you are under 26 and travelling on a Sat/sun or a public holiday you can get a Ticket Jeunes Week-end which costs 8.35€ for zones 1-5 and gives you unlimited travel on that day. You need to write your name and the date you are using it on the coupon before travelling and carry photo id to prove your age if you are controlled by the ticket inspectors.

Failure to do so leads to an on the spot fine
