Required to put bags in lockers?

Just remember that people tend to congregate near the front. Squeeze your way to the lockers near the back. THere will be a computer terminal for each block. Just look for an empty terminal or one with a short line.

it's a lot easier and quicker to use the lockers than to have to go to guest services and do paper work for lost items on the rides.

once you do the report of a lost item, you have follow up to go through.
can be time consuming.

Do you go to the lockers before you get in line, or is it something you reach right before you get to the ride?

you go to the lockers first for most of the rides.
the ride entrance is right near by.

Mummy, MIB, Hulk are the ones i am visualizing.....
lockers are right outside near the entrance to the ride lines.

The lockers are all outside the ride lines. During my first Universal experience I had the same "you have got to be kidding me" outlook regarding the lockers. Once I experienced the locker set up & the rides they're required for (wow), I am totally fine with the whole process. It's so not a big deal. I'm not a fanny pack kind of gal, so our stash goes right in the locker. In my experience, I think the lockers added maybe 1-2 minutes on to our ride time. 1 minute to find a locker, put stuff in it & set it & another minute to retrieve our things after the ride.

The only ride that has lockers inside the building is Forbidden Journey. Depending on how long the wait time is, you could be waiting quite a long time before getting to the lockers... or you might walk right in!

I'm here now. We wear cargo shorts. We buy water and drink it up before getting in lines. My sunglasses are on croakies so I was fine there. I don't do the big roller coasters so I'm usually the eyeglass holder for my son when he gets on the Hulk or the Mummy.

In one of my pockets I had my camera, ziploc quart size bag with 2 extra batteries and an extra SD card in it.

In my other pocket I had a small 1 oz bottle of sunscreen and enough quarters and pennies for 6 penny machines in a ziploc bag and my cell phone.

I wore a passporter pouch around my neck with all the essentials, ticket, room key, couple of bandaids, cash, credit card, insurance card and ID.

My son had his cell phone and a couple of extra ziploc bags in his.

Yesterday and today with all the rain, I carried my poncho squished down in one cargo pocket and he carried the other 2 in his. It wasn't ideal but it worked for us.

I saw one woman today directed to use the lockers because her fanny pack was too big. It was the biggest one I've seen on this trip.
So if you go that route, try to use the smallest one possible.

The lockers are near the rides, they are well marked so you'll be ok with finding them. I've used them in the past with no problems. We just decided to see if we could not use them this trip - and we didn't.

If it is going to interfere with the restraints, they won't let you use it.

I also think alot depends on who the CM is. I've seen the CMs at FJ tell people that wristlets must be completely stuffed into your pockets or else they have to go in the lockers, yet no one has ever said a word about me holding my sunglasses. I always hold them on FJ, Mummy, and MiB. A CM at FJ saw the VB zip ID on a lanyard around my neck and told me I had to either stuff inside my shirt or else in my pocket. He didn't say a word about the sunglasses in my hand. I had just used the single rider line to ride FJ several times and no one else had said a word about the lanyard around my neck either. I've also used that same lanyard several times since then and no one has said a word about it.

The TMs don't really focus on sunglasses on FJ because you can basically keep them on the ride however you want (clipped on your shirt, on your head, in your pocket, drop it in the seat back pocket..). Bags/wristlets/cameras are a bigger issue because people might not expect to need to take it off, and it takes a little preparation to take it off and put it in a pocket.

In the case of taking off small wristlets and lanyards... that's probably just an overzealous TM :)

How much are the lockers for the water rides ?
So I can know what kind of change to bring ?:thumbsup2

$4 for 90 mins. You can use either credit card or cash. Change will be dispensed in dollar coins. If you go over the 90 min limit (unlikely), your locker will remain locked until you put more $ in to it. There is a fee table displayed for reference.

Ziploc bags work wonderfully for wallets/cameras/phones. You can bring those with you and be worry free!

On our last trip to Universal I did not see the lockers and just walked right in with my small purse on Rip Ride Rocket. We hadn't been there since the mandatory lockers were implemented so I had no clue. Once you're in line though all of the TVs start talking about these lockers and how you have to store your bags then showed photos of people's things falling everywhere and it freaked me out :scared1:. Once I got to the top I asked a CM what could I do and he said go back downstairs then start the line again....ummm no. SO I was able to put my bag underneath my shirt and pull the restraint over it that time. Moral....don't think you can pop down then right back up or that the CMs will accomodate you if you miss the lockers.
The next few rides the CMs were on it and were telling everyone with a bag to use the lockers. They really aren't that big of a hassle and pretty secure since you have to do the fingerprint and code to open it. I did have an issue where mine wouldn't open so I let some people go ahead of me then tried it again and it worked...could have been my hands were sweaty or something. So if you try to open your locker and it doesn't work don't freak out, just give it a minute and try again.

The TM that told you you'd have to start the line again was in the wrong. What should have been said is that you would have to leave the line, go down to the lockers, then return up the exit/bail out line.

That would have made much more sense and really what I was expecting. There was no way I was doing the line again..even though it wasn't that crowded.
