How can I make a quick, lovable pumkin head costume?
I had a weird phone call from my mom earlier this evening saying my 2.5 y.o. niece might phone to "talk to the Great Pumpkin" and would I mind doing a crazy type voice and pretend.
Of course I thought this was great, a simple phone call how much would come of this
...time to act like a kid again! Here is the basics of the story...
My sweet niece
has had a pretty bad cold so my dad was saying she needs to dress warm on Halloween but of course being stubborn she declared that she doesn't want to cover her "most boootiful witch custoom in the wold!"
So he thought he would say that the Great Pumpkin would probably tell her she should wear a coat--he was trying to be cute and inventive with her but she exclaimed "I will phone him when I get home!"
YIKES!! That's when they phoned me....soooo, I did a very convincing job on the phone with her--yeah, too convincing!
She phoned me about 10 minutes later, just so very excited that she had talked to the "big pumkin". When I asked what they talked about you should have heard the story she told!
"Auntie Bonnie he has a helicopter and dwives a pumpkin car! He has map tunnels all under the gwound!"
Huh?
I never weaved any kind of helicopter into my story and I think I forgot how clever little ones are!
"He's commin' to my house from the field on Halloween to play with me and my ferrets and my boys (her 3 jumbo black, chocolate and golden labs) ALL day!!" YIKES!
Rodents and huge dogs...oh joy!
I think I recall our conversation went like this in a comical, slow type voice "what are you dressing up as", "it might be cold so wear a coat and mitts" but now its a full blown date between my sweet pea and Mr. Pumpkinhead!
Oh yes, apparently he wears a "perpol scarf too" --insert excited, little squealy voice here. She went on and on, and even spoke to my kids telling them HUGE tales of the Great Pumpkin and their "discussion"!
Crafty people I need help
---the body part would be easy, overalls, shirt, stuffing but the head I am stumped! Any ideas for pumpkinhead would be appreciated---we are a crazy, loving family who doesn't want to disappoint a special little girl
plus it will be fun!
