Can I make the request for turndown service when I check in, or is it better to call mousekeeping from our room to request it? Also, since this service is by request only (unless you're in Hawaii - concierge, which we're not), what do you think I should leave for a tip? I usually tip mousekeeping $1 per day per person in the room - in our case $4.00 a day. But I always am more generous if service is exceptional!

Just wondering what your thought are on this. Thanks!

We were at the Polynesian for the first two weeks of May. We called Mousekeeping upon getting to our room to request turndown service for the length of our stay. We tipped our morning Mousekeeper and turndown Mousekeeper $4.00 per stay. Sometimes they did not take the tip, and I had to hunt around in hopes of finding them. The Mousekeepers were fabulous and we had great service with a smile from all of them! We were in the Tokelau building. HTH! Have a great time!

We requested turndown service last time we were at the Poly - we really loved coming back to our room with the lights turned down, the beds turned back, fresh towels and shampoo...just made things a bit more special! :goodvibes

We called mousekeeping from our room as soon as we checked in. I'm not sure what time they came during the day but we were back some nights as early as 6pm and turndown was already finished.

We were a family of 3 and we tipped $5/day.

Enjoy!

We tip between $3-5 each morning, and between $2-3 each evening for Mousekeeping.

And the purpose of this is......

Well, as another poster put it...

we really loved coming back to our room with the lights turned down, the beds turned back, fresh towels and shampoo...just made things a bit more special!

That about sums it up.

Oh, and I'm too lazy to pull the covers back myself!
