Requesting rooms at Courtyard DTD?

I have reservations at Courtyard by Marriott at Downtown Disney for my family's upcoming trip. I've read on here about requesting certain rooms, to better see the fireworks, but I have a few questions about that. First, are the tower rooms best for this? Above which floor? How far in advance should I make my request? Do I do so by email, fax, phone, or what? Also, what's the best way to word my request? Something along the lines of a simple, "Could you please place us in a room overlooking the fireworks?"

I am on the 10th floor and have an excellent view of the fireworks, so you don't have to be tippy top. I would just ask them to add to my ressie a request for an upper level fireworks view room. That's all I did--no special faxes or anything.
