Requesting Pixie Dust.

Hey everyone
I've been reading some reports and noticed a few posters saying they received pixie dust in their room ie some lovely freebies

Can I ask why you get it? And just for pure indulgence could you share what you got ?
Is it just randomly selected rooms by CM's?

If you asked, what was the reason for eg did you explain it was someone's birthday or whatever?
It will be ds's 11th birthday when we go in October.

On our last trip to the SL there were some ,6 iirc, chocolate coins in with the hospitality tray but I thought that was standard.

When we went in December 2012 we received a great room in Sequoia lodge it had a huge balcony as well. There was a thumper beanie waiting for DD and some sweets and chocolates.

We had previously been in the September and stayed at the Davy Crockett ranch. We had a horrible lodge. When we returned and I complained they gave a reference number I had to provide when booking our next trip.

So yours was for compensation then. Dd has sp needs and we're always treated very well so no complaints from us, unfortunately .

We went for DD's 4th birthday in December at the Cheyenne and got no pixie dust (I wrongly left it up to DH to email the hotel to make a fuss about her birthday!) but more importantly we were all a bit ill (tummy bug going around). So I then contacted the SL for our March trip, said we'd been recently and we were all a bit unwell and we were looking forward to a more healthy trip this time. I had an email reply saying that a note would be made that we were regular visitors....

At the SL we had VIP breakfast passes, a plush Thumper, a rose by the bathroom sink, and chocolate coins.

we haven't booked yet but we are going SL Gf in February,, there will be 8 of us, so 2 rooms, it's our 15th wedding anniversary while we are there, so hopefully we may get a bit of Pixie dust if i email them. i did email the Cheyenne last year when we were due to stay, as it was our fisrt trip since our ds kidney operation, but we had no extra's in the room. either way, it's always magical on every stay! but PD would make it even magical-er!

To be honest, it's pot luck. It can be something as simple as a room by the facilities when you booked a standard. Or a VIP pass because you have booked two rooms as you have a large family, or bottles of water and chocolates in your room. Some people have found plushies in their room after they've emailed after a bad trip and are returning, and others have foind one because of a birthday.
Though if you think about it, there are a LOT of birthdays every hour in Disney so as much as we think its special, it's really isn't on a day to day basis :-/
I did however, have Pixie Dust last trip. My Dad was severely ill (life threatening) over Christmas and we rescheduled for Feb half term. Kids thought we were in the Santa Fe, but we got a cheap deal on the web for room only in the Cheyenne a few nights before, and the school gave permission for us to take them out. So after the surprise of the Cheyenne, I sneakily booked into the Sequoia with out them knowing. I was so excited, spoke broken French to the CM about how the kids will freak at the swimming pool and it was a surprise as they thought we were at the Cheyenne for the next 7 nights (it was a looooog trip!). I was given a VIP breakfast sticker and told to come back for my room later. Everyone else had theirs assigned and I was suspicious then.....
On returning, we'd got a Montana room (I'd booked a lodge) right next to the meet and greet area, shop, bar and restaurants. THAT was unexpected PD and I'd never have got it if I asked for it. I never mentioned anything about anyone/thing and it was just one of though little Disney moments. Totally made my trip!
