My family and I are doing our first DVC trip in August. I have a split stay booked. We are at AKL Kidani in a 1BR for 5 nights and then on day 6, we are checking into a 1BR at VWL. A family friend is also checking in to VWL the same day as us, and has a studio booked as a cash reservation as they are not DVC members....since 2BR lock-off is comprised of a 1BR and studio, if I call MS and request it, is there any chance that we could be assigned "connecting rooms" for lack of a better term? Should my friend also call disney reservations and not it as well? I assume my chances greatly depend on if all the 2BR lock-offs are sold out? Also, I know I have seen it somewhere on these boards, but offhand does anyone know how many of those rooms there actually are at VWL.

According to the resource thread, VWL has several dedicated studios & 1 bedrooms. I don't think the chances are good that they could pair up lockoffs when you have separate reservations for a studio & 1 bedroom. But you can always ask.

VWL - 20 Dedicated Studios - 27 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 44 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 45 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 136 Units / 181 Max. Available Rooms

Thanks for the info! I guess we will have them note the Dessie and see what happens!

Have both of you place "Travel With" notations on both reservations. Requesting to be as close to each other as possible. That way the room assigner CM, knows what you are looking for, and will help out if possivle.

DVC will not connect rooms to my knowledge. You can add a Travel With to be as close as possible. But even if you're right next to each other with a door that connects, they will not connect it. Unless you get someone that will break the rules for you.

I know it doesn't apply in your situation, but when we travel with my parents, we stay in a 1BR and they stay in a studio. I will always book a lock-off 2BR (except at HHI because there are so few) so that we are guaranteed to be "connecting". Plus, it's fewer points;).

In 2016, we are planning another big family trip. My sister's family of 4 would like to rent a studio at AKV. Since we will be using our points to stay at AKV in a 1BR, I will "charge" her the difference between the 1BR and 2BR lock-off so that we can be in adjoining rooms.

If they get a one bedroom and a studio with the door between them, they can open the doors on both sides. Each reservation still remains separate with separate KTTW for each side.

Check to see if you're booked in to a dedicated 1 BR or lockoff and you'll know whether it's possible or not. If you are I'd think you'd be better off if you're both there to check in at the same time.

It is possible, but not guaranteed. We did this a few years ago when my parents stayed in a studio (cash) and we had a one bedroom (points). When my parents checked in, they asked if they could be close to us and they put us in adjoining rooms. Good luck, hope it works out! pixiedust:

1. Make sure both reservations have "traveling with" information.

2. Find the fax number for your Resort. Five days prior to arrival send a fax to the Resort to the attention of the "Rooms Assigner". Include information for both reservations. If it can be done, this is the person to do it.

DVC resorts do not accept faxes.
