Requesting an upgrade at check-in for DL Resort hotels?

I’m not talking about a free upgrade or being pixie dusted, I mean possibly upgrading the room category and paying more, but maybe less than booking in advance?

I have no idea if this can happen at resort hotels, since I’ve never tried it. Just wondering if we decide spur of the moment and there is availability, if there would be any kind of price break for an upgrade. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

From my experience asking at check in, they will quote you rack rate for any upgrades and you will have to pay the difference from the rate you booked at.
