I have a bit of an odd food allergy... nightshades. (Tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant.. paprika). I read in some trip reports that people request servers when they get on board.

Do you have anyone particular to recommend on the Wonder? We are good tippers. Lol. And I've already packed little treats for our server, assistant and head server for every night. :)

We depart next Monday!:bounce:

Edwin (server) attention to detail, Paulo (assistant server) funny and on the ball. Edwin from Philippines and Paulo from Portugal. They work well together like a well oiled machine. Edwin is a perfectionist. I can honestly say they are the best team we had since 2003, on any ship. Our first cruise in 2003 we had a wonderful server but I never remembered his name and he has probably moved up in ranks.

Edited to add to be sure to list the allergies on your reservation, check that it is listed by calling and at check in, also speak with the Head Server before first service if possible and give them that list with your names and SR number on it.

We once went with friends that had sever allergy and that was what she did and all went fine. It is about communication. Also make sure drinks don't have things like garnish or juices of your allergen type, so definitely tell the asst. server too.

If you want to request a specific server, you need to call DCL as soon as possible to do that. Requesting servers should not be done once on the ship, but beforehand. You could still try once you are on the ship, but chances are that the server already has all his tables filled.

In my experience, and what I was told onboard the Wonder, is that it is almost pointless to request servers in advance. I have only done it once, and it was not honored in advance, possibly due to me requesting a team, rather than a single individual. We ran into our server in Parrot Cay and leaned he was on a different rotation. We went to dining changes, and then we kept our assigned table, and our favorite server was moved to our rotation.

Based on this, you probably already know that many people in the food industry don't know what nightshades are. I wouldn't bother with a particular server. I recommend going directly to the dining changes area (it's been in Triton's) when you board the ship and informing them of this allergy. You will also need to inform your head server the first night. From that point, they should be able to easily alter the meals and will likely have you order them far in advance.

Agree with informing the Head Server prior to first evening, call and leave message at your first dining room when you get your KTTW with your table and rotation. We have requested servers on both the Wonder and the Magic multiple times and have had it honored every time. We always request our Server given the teams change up depending on their contract rotations and so many of our assistant servers are promoted to server. Also find that when the Head Server is given information they go out of their way to ensure that everything is prepared and served just right for you, think that should be your focus.

We love Felipe from Peru. We've cruised with him twice before (once was a request) and we've requested him again in November. He is fantastic! You need to call DCL to put in a request for a server, and keep in mind that they will try their best to meet the request, but it may not happen. As far as the allergy, let the head server know as soon as possible. I think you can actually make a note about it in your reservation. Before anything else on the first night, your server will ask if there are any allergies that they need to be aware of. They will go out of their way to make sure you're safe and enjoying your cruise.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback and opinions! I've been working with Chris in Special Services with my weird allergy, so I went ahead to see if we can request Edwin or Felipe, but I feel rest assured by the other responses that I will be taken care of! :)
