How exactly do I go about doing this? We booked through a TA, we are staying at POR ( for the 3rd time) during free dining.
Am I too early, too late?

Because you booked through a TA, you'll need to put the request through them. They can call Disney and have it noted on your reservation. About 3 days before you arrive, you can also follow up with a fax to the room assignor at the POR if you want.

I was wondering this same thing. When would be the time to fax the room assignor? We have friends who will be checking in on Sunday and we will be checking in on Monday. There are three buildings I would like to be in and they would like to be near us. How should I word that request and should we both send an identical request?

It probably would have been easier to do this through reservations, but I think it's too late. They could have simply "linked" your two reservations and made a note to keep the rooms together. Chances are, your friends reservation has already been downloaded to the resort and yours will probably show up tomorrow. I'd wait until Thursday afternoon or Friday morning to send the fax. You should only need 1 fax, just note both reservation numbers and the names on the reservation. I would ask them to link the two and keep you in the same area. Let them know that you'd prefer one of the following 3 buildings, but your priority is to be close together.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't mean we are checking in this week. We actually have two more weeks until we arrive. So maybe we do still have time. I am not super concerned if we aren't right next to each other. I really want to be in those specific buildings first.

Oh okay, then you still have time. I would call CRO and have the reservations linked and noted with your building requests.

We just got back Sunday and our faxes worked! Six days before our arrival I faxed a letter to the resort requesting one of two buildings, first floor and a room that had never been non smoking. Our friends that we went with faxed the same letter. They got the exact request and we got one building over, but we could see each other's rooms from our windows. It was perfect! I will definately fax a request again.

ETA We had both booked through AAA and we didn't send our request through our travel agents.
