Request Dining Tables in Close Proximity?

Since Covid has anyone had success requesting to be seated in close proximity to another party? Since our group is large, we considered booking two smaller reservations at the same time, and then asked to be seated in the general vicinity. Obviously, the success of this will depend on several factors, but I am curious to see if anyone was successful.

In similar threads, people have reported being successful having multiple groups at the same table. Your milage may vary, of course.

My sister and I went in January (8 total). Most of our reservations were for 2 parties of 4. We had no problem getting our tables combined to one bigger table at all our reservations (Homecomin, Yak & Yeti, Kona Cafe, Tutto Italia). We have 9 of us going again in June and have had to break up our parties for most of those reservations as well. I suggest getting to the restaurant a few minutes early to let them know you are together and see if they can accommodate.
