Reputable LA TownCar company

G'day
Can anyone recommend a reputable company for TownCar transfers from LAX to the Disneyland Hotel and return.
I've booked a car via a series of emails but they are now telling me that I have to send them signed traveller's cheques in the mail. Do people actually do that sort of thing in the US or am I right in thinking this is (at best) a stupid thing to do or (at worst) a straight out scam.
BTW, I've booked a car from *********** with no dramas for the trip from MCO to Port Canaveral for the cruise part of our holiday (no up front payment required) - should LA companies be so different?

Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated.

Ooh - I wouldn't take that ressie - doesn't sound right.

I can't recommend a car service at the moment. The one I used to use isn't as reliable anymore. I would call the DLH and ask them for a recommendation. Couldn't hurt. Disney doesn't recommend companies that they receive complaints about. (When we had our wedding there, they would remove folks from their approved vendor list if they had even 1 complaint.)
