Reputable freelance websites?

I know I've seen it discussed before, but search wasn't helping me at all.

Does anyone have any experience with any freelance writing websites? Looking at Textbroker. Demand Media Studios looks interesting. I'm also enthralled by Education Portal, but I can't get myself to commit to anything.

My "baby" just started Kindergarten and I'm looking to start getting my feet wet back in the working world (I did freelance before I had my son, but always felt like I spent more time looking for jobs than I did actually writing). I also want to have something quality to put on my resume for when I start looking for "real" jobs in the next few years.

Anybody want to share experiences? Thanks!

I have written for Demand for several years. For me it went from my main "client" to now only when I have no other work due to some changes they have made over the years. You need to have samples or experience in certain subject areas to get accepted into "sections." The pay is much more than Textbroker, but still not great, and there is very little communication between writer and higher-ups. That said, it can be a great way to get your feet wet once you learn the ropes. There is also a great group of discussion boards on which you can air concerns, ask questions and get help. Good luck.

I use Textbroker sometimes. It's easy to write a paragraph or two finished a night if I really keep up with it. But it's only like 4 cents a word so not always worth it unless I am otherwise just watching TV.
