While at OKW last week we attended the first DVC Spring Fling. I had purchased a ticket in January. The game was March 6, Braves vs Mets. We went early and were escorted to one of the 4th floor suites after being given a game program, a DVC larriat around our neck and a Disney pin with Mickey holding a bat and ball. DVC had booked all the suites and had a maximum 200 in attendance. Lunch was served buffet style beginning at 12 noon. Sandwiches, salads, desserts, tea and lemonade along with bags of peanuts, popcorn and crackerjacks. Plenty to eat and drink. We had indoor or outdoor seating take your choice. Door prizes were drawn but we were not lucky. A cash bar was available.
Tickets to the function were $54. each. I thought it was a little high but after I added everything up it seemed fair. The weather was fair and sunny.
This was my first trip to the Disney Wide World of Sports and I was overwhelmed. The baseball stadium is very beautiful. The place was packed. While at OKW I went to see two more games...Braves and Yankees and then the Pirates. Any questions ?

Sounds like it was fun! We enjoy collage baseball (Geaux Tigers!!) but also enjoy a pro ball game every now and then.
Do you remember where you read about this? I don't remember seeing it, or I didn't pay too much attention since I knew we were going in May.

Thanks for the info

As to the other games you went to: what is the going price now for a game?

Tickets range from $13 to $21. This does not include the "suites" where DVC watched from. Those are not sold on a per game - per fan basis. You'd need to rent the whole suite.

Sounds like it was a good deal and a good time!

We choose not to go with the DVC suite thingie this year (that would be the technical term btw :teeth: ) because my sons are barely 3 and 5 and often we don't make it through a whole game.

We are going down this weekend to see the Baraves vs the Phillies and I am READY!

Maybe next year on the Spring Training DVC trip!

In answer to some questions. I first heard of the DVC Spring Fling by member EMail from DVC.
The ticket price for the suite was $23. That was included in the $54. total tab.
The other games I purchased thru Ticketmaster.com and I had lower level seats 18 rows above the Braves dugout on the 1st base line. They were $21. plus Ticketmasters fee and the UPS charge.
One of the bonus things was I got to see Peyton Manning and Eli Manning throw out the ceremonial first ball for the Pirates game. All the Braves players were getting their autographs. That was a switch. They were standing around the dugout for about 10 minutes. Even their Dad Archie was there...the Hall of Famer.
Needless to say they both didn't have any trouble tossing the ball from the pitchers mound.

Bill,
This sounds like a great trip.
how far advance noticed did you have from email to game dates??
this sounds like it would be a great b'day gift for DH next year but i would need time to plan (days off work, plane tickets, etc..). When should i be looking for this info next year.

thanks for any help

I had already booked OKW for five nites begin 3/6 and then ordered my Braves tickets on the first day of internet sales (early part of January) The Braves web site gave the sales date. Then I got the email to all members that told about the Spring Fling. The dates matched my ressie and I called the DVC # that was given and ordered the ticket to the Fling.
All of this was about the second week of January.
If your DH is a baseball fan he would love this.
Of course their is no guarantee that DVC will repeat this next year. They did two this March...3/6 and one to be held 3/20.
Of course the Braves will be there next spring. I also got their spring schedule off of their web site.

I can tell this is one event we will be doing next year -- even if it isn't in Jupiter! My adult daughter and I just went to a Marlins spring game in Jupiter on Saturday and it was really a great experience that we will want to repeat each year. Now that we're DVC owners, it will be twice as much fun.

Let's go FISH!
