I have finally paid for our Disney World Trip, and I just wanted to share with you the deals and savings I got! Thanks to all on the Budget Boards for sharing your savings tips. I have used a lot of them, and am SO excited!

$15 Roundtrip, nonstop airfare on Southwest using Rapid Rewards Points from Chase Credit Card. Got the Personal and Business cards and 110,000 points, so getting a companion pass for the rest of 2014 and all of 2015! :cheer2: ($870 savings)

$122.23 Firefly car rental (I like to have a car and will be traveling to resorts to eat). (no real savings, just cheap deal)

$751.90 4 night DVC Points Rental Studio Villa, originally for BWV, but BCV request came through last week. DS is going to love that pool! (did it through a DVC owner forum $10.44/point, including Paypal Fees, and the payment of the 1 point difference between BWV and BCV). (60% savings compared to Beach Club rack rates of $1906 including tax, 44% savings compared to Spring 30% off deal of $1334.20 including tax, 25% savings compared to using dvcrequest to rent points at $1008)

$657.48 5 Day Basic Park Tickets for 2 adults and 1 child using Orbitz 5 days for price of 3 deal with 20% off through eBates. Awesome!!!! ($292.50 savings or 31% off)

$840 for $1000 in Disney Gift Cards. Giant Eagle $10 coupon for $100 Disney Gift Card deal plus 6% in fuelperks. To be used for Memory Maker and all food and fun in the parks! ($160 savings or 16% off)

$152.16 Cinderella's Royal Table - had to pay over phone in Dec. for reservation, so no savings there.

TOTAL: $2,538.77

Would have paid $5,015.37 with rack rates
Would have paid $4,443.57 with 30% Spring Savings
Would have paid $4,117.37 with dvcrequest

TOTAL SAVINGS: $1,578.16 - $2,476.60
That's 38% - 49% off!

:cheer2: That is awesome. I am still trying to figure out how to save like you did. I have learned a few tricks, but I am planning on looking deeper into buying points.
Again, that is great!!!!!!!!

Are you planning to rent or to buy? I really wanted to buy a small contract, but since we don't plan to go to Disney World more than once every 4 years or so, the numbers just didn't equal a savings for us. I would really like to have control over my reservation, though, and DVC members do get some nice savings perks if you are likely to use them.

You can always buy a small contract and "bank" a year to combine with the next. and on the off year that doesn't work, you can sell your points too!

I have been looking into renting, but like you, I would prefer to control the ressie.

Yeah, you can do this, but when I ran the numbers, it didn't make good financial sense for us right now. At least not as good as just renting points when we want to go. With renting, it means we only have to pay for exactly the number of points we will be using, but more importantly, our vacation dollars will not be locked in to Disney. So if we decide we are haters of FP+ or our kids would rather go on a real safari in Africa rather than stay at the AKL, we have the flexibility without having to bother with renting or paying annual dues or driving DH crazy with my Disney obsession and trying to squeeze in little trips here and there as happens so often when you own! I might purchase later, but it would be more of a convenience thing rather than because it makes the best financial sense for me. We are a young couple with just one child so far, so getting a larger savings is a higher priority right now than a buying a timeshare.
