Well we have premioum annual passes so my hubby, DS6 and I went to the parks.
They were CROWDED! I think Disney wasn't expected the parks to be this packed as they seemed very understaffed at several locations and even in directing traffic.
Normally when the parks are crowded and lines are long they use all avenus to push through riders as quickly as possible.
For example on Indiana only one of the three paths were being used, this led to a big backup and after escaping the giant rolling ball we were left sitting in the dark (PITCH BLACK) for 5 minutes because all the cars were backed up.
This was after getting hauled off Pirates after coming up the big hill and just around the corner we stopped and waited, waited and waited (the line for Pirates went about half way down to the Haunted Mansion and I am NOT exaggerating), Pirates ends up breaking down. PIrates is a high cycle ride meaning it can cycle approximately 1500 riders in an hour, too many riders during a crowded day gets the boats backed up and you have a breakdown. Sucks for the people who were right about to get on the boats because even though the Pirates line moves pretty fast the line was at least 90 minutes long.
Tower of Terror was only using 3 of the 6 elevator lifts available. TOT also had an extremely long line and only one guy was loading up the three elevators, he was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. TOT is a low cycle ride it takes a long time to load and run thorugh the ride and only gets about 300 riders per hour. Not cool.
After TOT we caught the DisneyDance Crew show because my former student Andrew is a performer there. I mentioned to him about the crowds and all he said was yah they are calling in people right and left.
hardly any characters out. I saw Pluto and Mr. Incredible and that's it.
Alladin show had it's own issues which I posted about in another thread and I found out that yes the actress who played Jasmine wasn't injured (neither was Alladin) but dang her head made a noise when it hit the stage floor!
There was just general confusion too as we went back into Disneyland to ride the monorail (around 7:30pm at this time) its nice and dark and I've always wanted to ride the monorail at night. While entering the park I overhear someone behind me saying that the monorail broke down. My 6 year old is complaining about his feet hurt and my hubby is complaining about his back hurting and I'm not feeling the best so prior to walking all the way over to Tomorrowland I asked the security guard if the monorail was operating (I happen to notice I hadn't seen it running), he wasn't sure but called control on his radio and asked who replied that yes it yes open. So we go all the way down there and what do you think happened? wait for it????
It was closed until after the fireworks! The fireworks aren't until 8:40pm why close it an hour early, stupid in my opnion.
We decided to call it a day at that point but I did stop by the same security and tell him to call control back and put them in their place. The two other security guards standing next to him verified that control did in fact say on the radio that it was open. I didn't blame the security guards I just told them to correct control.
I couldn't believe 8 hours at Disneyland kicked my butt (we didn't get there until noon).
We usually are able to do a lot in the park because my son has a guest assistance pass and we go through fastpass lines and such but I felt like I did nothing all day long.
Maybe I'm just getting old.
Even downtown disney was packed. They better hurry up with the remodel of the LEGO store because they are in a very small space and I was claustrophobic (and I'm not normally claustrophobic).
Have a good day everyone!!!
