Has anyone done this? My kitchen is huge and open floor plan. Cant really explain but part of the lower cabinets goes into an open area and to replace all of it would be a fortune cause it would involve retiling etc. The upper cabinets are what really look dated to me and I actually dont have near as many of them as I do the lowers. The cabinets are all basic white. I was thinking of replacing the uppers with white but with some pretty trim and the longer cabinets, mine are short ones from the early 1980s. Would this work do you think?. I have new granite counter tops and appliances, out of necessity they were all replaced a few years ago.

I would have the lower ones resurfaced to match the new upper ones so everything will feel new even though you're only replacing the upper ones. White can be a very hard "color" to match :)

There is a very big trend at the moment for having different bottom and top cupboards. We have wood on the bottom and white on top. I wouldn't replace them with the same colour as it would never match I'd replace them with a total contrast and it would look like it was designed that way

another thing to do is replace all the DOORS only

I have also stripped and gave an antique finish to a small kitchen in a townhouse
