replacing linoleum

gonna do this myself in the laundry room. want to use linoleum in case of washer leaks. question is:


1. do I put new on top of old or do I remove old flooring?

Depends, what shape is the current floor in and is it fairly smooth or does it have a raised pattern? Also, how much room you you have at the doorway to accommodate the new floor height? Vinyl flooring is about 1/4" thick or more.
