Has anyone here ever done this? I hate my cabinet doors in the kitchen and I was thinking about replacing them, but I need to this as chaep as I can, because we will be moving in the next year or so and I don't want to put a bunch of money into this project. I called someone about refacing them and they wanted 5K to do it, no way! I did an online search and found some doors for around 50.00 each. Do you have any advice for this?

Are you cabinets painted or would you be OK with paining them? If so, they you can add some wood molding to the fronts to make them more decorative. An easy one is to get a 1/2 inch wide molding that is 180 degrees and run a rectangle around the cabinet and inch or so in from the edge. You will need to just cut four lengths with 45 degree edges and then nail to the door and paint.

Is it just that YOU don't like them?

If you are moving in a year, are they doors that most buyers won't like either? If its just you, I would suck it up & stick it out until you move.

If its for resale purposes, then I would replace.

I have already painted them white. It's just the doors are old style and I hate them. They have the ugly raised trim on them. The cabinets themselves are fine structure wise & we just put hardwood floors down a few years ago so I hate to totally redo everything. I was just thinking that maybe I could just go buy new doors & door fronts. :confused3
