How exactly do you "rent" points from a DVC member? (How do you make ressies...get the key....etc...)

Also...Is it cheaper to do this rather than teh rack tate. It seems to be....but it also seems too good to be true

Can you tell me how much it would be for a 10 night stay at SS or The Beach Club Dec 5-15 2006.

Thanks!

Well... you definately selected on of the busiest DVC vacation times! Is it cheaper than rack rates thru CRO... definately!!!!

As for the cost to stay during the time you indicated, it will depend on the size accommodations (studio, 1br, 2br, grand villa)...

SSR you'd be looking at 128, 242, 324, or 706 points.
BCV you'd be looking at 140, 266, or 360 points (no grand villas there).

Ok, so cash... renting you'd be looking at $1,280 for a studio, booking a studio thru CRO would be around $2,888 (plus tax). about 45-50% savings.

There is some risk involved and both the DVC member and the renter have to have some trust. You would be paying a member a lot of money and have to trust that they will do what they say they'll do. The member also has to trust that the renter will be responsible and not damage the property etc and leave them with the repair bill, etc.

Ok, now your other questions. How do you make the ressie? You don't. You find a DVC member that is renting points and they book the ressie for you. You, of course, would pay the member the agreed to price per point etc for them to make that reservation. The member puts the ressie in your name so you just show up and check-in.

HTH

Multiply that by $10-12 per point and that's about what you'd pay to rent those from a DVC member.

One suggestion I would make is to make your arrangements with an owner as early as you can. Early December is probably the busiest time of the year for DVC because of the low points costs, holiday events, etc.

Also, BCV is a small resort and will be difficult to get; I'd try to rent from from a BCV owner between 7-11 months out so you're in their 11 month window and have preference. Once you get to seven months, anybody can make ressies at BCV so the demand goes way up.
