After 14+ years of having a clean driving licence I was 'done' doing 35mph in a 30 (no signs around and it was an industrial area, and what appeared to be dual carriageway!) - result - 3 points!
That happened in September 2002.
To add insult to injury, I think I may have been 'done' again the other day. Again what appeared to be dual carriageway, this time in the middle of nowhere in the Lake District, this time going 70. (those who have read their highway codes recently will know that you can go 70mph on dual carriageways!) However, a mile down the road there were signs for a dual carriagway ahead!!! So being the pessimist that I am, I think the speed limit where the nice man in blue zapped me may have been 60!
So presuming I now have 6 points on my licence (you're allowed 12 apparently), has anyone been and rented cars with points on their licences. Does it cause any sort of problem with the rental people? We've rented this time with Dollar (through Airline network, fantastic deal £181/week for a minivan!)
I'm really quite worried because my dw refuses point blank to drive in Florida, despite my continuous reassurances that it's actually easier to drive there than back home. Can anyone help who is in the know?
