renting wheelchair question

Good afternoon everyone.

We will be leaving for Disney in 5 days and it looks like we may be needing to get a wheelchair for my mother at the parks. She is recovering from Kidney stones and pnuemonia (hit her on Christmas Day, then was in ICU for 3 days). So she still gets very tired and isn't walking that fast.

My question is, what does it take to get a wheelchair? Would we need to show anything? And do we get them at the Guest Relations in the parks?

Thanks in advance for help!

Have a wonderful day :wizard: .

FAQs has a list of offsite wheelchair rental sites. They are cheaper than WDW prices and the wheelchair will be delivered to your hotel lobby. You can reserve one today. This allows you to take her from the resort to the buses or car then to the parks as it is a long way from your room to the park entrance.

Just agreeing with mechurchlady - it might be best in your situation to rent one off-site.

If you do choose to rent in the parks, the information for that is also on the disABILITIES FAQs thread. The short answer is that wheelchairs are rented in the same place as strollers are. You don't need any 'proof' or anything that she needs one.
