Renting spaces on property for wedding/fine print policy

I was just wondering if anyone had done a simple wedding ceremony in a Disney Hotel or on your own private cruise? I plan on going to Disney and do our wedding and disneymoon in the same trip (we are staying off property for the whole thing). I know some of you might respond negatively due to spending a bunch of money on a ligit Disney Wedding. Some of us don't need Disneys help for our own small wedding/elopement. I just want to know any of your experiences with doing this. Was it worth it? What did u do? Where did u stay? And also Disneys policy's of if u rent a space from DISNEY and do something like this (like hotel room or other spaces on property). Anyone have any stories to share? I appreciate it! TIY

From what I understand, you can't do anything wedding-like on Disney property without going through Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. No ceremony and no wedding-type reception. Even if you have your ceremony off property like at one of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd. or Swan and Dolphin and want to have your reception at a Disney-owned property, you most likely can't wear your dress or have a "wedding" cake.

If you're looking to do something very small, they have the Memories collection, but it doesn't include the officiant I believe, and it's only for I think 4 guests.

If you really don't want to do/can't afford (believe me, we can't) a Disney wedding, then maybe look into Swan and Dolphin ceremonies through JustMarry! (that's what we're looking at) or I think the other company people have used is Sunsational Weddings. They're very reasonably priced and have different packages to choose from.

Rix Lounge and Las Ventanas at Coronado Springs Resort is another alternative. They are independently owned and do ceremonies/receptions. It's a unique venue and also has reasonable prices.

You can do some research through the Disney Wedding Podcast. It has numerous different podcasts about weddings on and around Disney property http://disneyweddingpodcast.com/ You can search around for whatever applies to your situation.

There are other local hotels/resorts to look into as well. I'm sure others will comment with suggestions.

you could literally hire someone to come inside your room and create a ceremony? but obviously any venue that you are renting on property is going to figure out what you are doing and it won’t happen. the “secret” wedding idea outside of your actual room could get you escorted off property as well. not the risk i’d like to take on my wedding day!

you can book special events through disney and have a celebration, a party a catered dinner an anniversary celebration. lots of options for weddings as suggested by the PP. i am pretty confident that DFTW and disney properly can easily suss out who is trying to have a wedding on property without going through DFTW, they deal with that all the time!

I think your only option (and it might not be a bad one) would be to book a really nice DVC room or a suite room-maybe one with a great view of the castle or lake-& hire an officiant to perform a simple ceremony in your room. I would guess because its a private room & you are not out in the open, this might be ok. Not 100% sure though.

After your "ceremony," you could book a fireworks dessert party. You would not be able to wear your wedding dress, but you could certainly wear a nice non-wedding dress. You could likely order a cake to be served at the DP, as long as it is not a traditional wedding cake. There are tons of gorgeous cakes to choose from though.

We had a Swan wedding-which is way less money than a Disney wedding & it is basically on WDW property-at no time did we or our guests ever feel like we were off property. We also booked an Epcot fireworks dessert party & it was perfect-worth every penny

I would suggest looking into a Swan wedding. As others mentioned, sneaking a secret ceremony is not worth the risk of getting caught.
