How difficult is it to get the Villas at the Grand Floridian at the beginning of December if it is not your home resort? Is it pretty much booked up at that 11-month mark?

I have a friend who will be using her AKV points to book a room for me at AKV at 11 months, but I would prefer the G-Flo if possible. She does not have points there, so the only option would be 7 months. That is where my question is coming from.

Thank you for the feedback. It is as I figured.

It seems if I want to stay at the G-Flo using DVC, I would need to rent through a service that has points at 11 months.
Depending on how lucky and/or patient your friend is they may be able to snag a couple of days for a split stay. They could possibly grab a day as soon as the 7 month window opens and waitlist for other days. That requires them to have enough points to book AKV for you and fish for VGF at the same time.

Frankly, even then might be an issue in early December.
Yes, that is true. I believe those services are from people who have unused points they are trying to get rid of for quick cash. ??

I think the only sure way is if the owner owns at G-Flo. Is that right? I have read too many horror stories of people paying and then their trip being canceled..so that scares me.

Not just that, but who is willing to be online at 8am exactly 11 months out to compete for the booking. Most owners won't do that for agency pricing.

Studios and resort rooms are hardest then two bedrooms and then one bedrooms. You might have a chance at one bedroom.

The 1 br. at VGF will cost more points than a like sized villa at AKV. Because the 1 br.s throughout DVC are pretty expensive pointwise they tend to be available longer, but there are only 47 1 br.s at VGF (and they are all lock offs, so folks wanting 2 br.s are booking them as well) & that first week of December is very popular, so I’d say getting one is a long shot. VGF is one of our home resorts & we really like staying there in a 1 br. in early Dec., so I’m up at 4:30 a.m. my time right at 11 months to grab my reservation & once I have it I don’t change it.

The only way is to find a member who has a fixed week for early December and use that - which isn't at all likely. GFV is one where Disney sold fixed weeks, and early December was a very popular fixed week period - which is one of the reasons that its difficult for owners at GFV resorts themselves to book a room there and a member who owns GFV has to be willing to walk into the room in order to book it - which they are really unlikely to do for a renter when for most of the rest of the year, the same money ends up in their pockets for a LOT less work and more certainty.
