Renting question - Do I need to get all points from just one member?

My family is planning on a 10 day visit and it looks like it will be just over 300 points. I see a lot of posts with people having less than 300 available. I'm assuming I need to find one member with who can provide all the points we need right? Can someone confirm this?

Thanks!

Well, 'renting points' is kind of a misnomer. You're not actually going to get any points; you couldn't do anything with them. Points are associated with a contract that a member owns, and only the member can make reservations with those points.

What you'll be doing is renting a reservation from a member. So, if you can't find a single member who has enough points to cover the number of nights you want to stay at the resort, you may have to have two separate reservations, made by two different members. Let's say you want a 7-day stay. Member 1 might make a reservation for the first 3 nights, and member 2 would make a reservation for the remaining 4 nights.

You'd want to ask them to have the reservations linked in the DVC system, so that you'd have a good chance of being in the same villa for both halves of your trip. You would have to check out when your first reservation is completed, and check back in to start the second reservation.

I dont think you can link reservations from different members.

Yes, reservations from multiple members can be liked together. Any of the members you work with would just need to provide MS with the reservation details to be linked with the reservation they are making and MS can link them together.
