Renting Pts. Question & Exchange Question

This might not be the right spot for this, so please forgive me. We are members at SSR and have been trying to get an exchange at either Big Sky, Montana or Key West for Summer of 2008 anytime between June 1 until July 30. We have had the search going for about 5 months now, and I am not getting to freaked out. We LIKE to plan early. My question how long should I hold out, and if at that time nothing comes up on my search how do I rent my points and just pay cash and go to Jackson Hole, WY (where we really want to go, but no exchange place there). What is the normal steps in renting points here on the boards. Sorry for the long read and once again THANKS to all for your help.

Re: Big Sky -- why do you want to go there? If you want to visit Big Sky for itself, that's fine.

But if the purpose is to visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Big Sky is a L-O-N-G way from those parks. It's so far, it's not really a doable day trip. If you're interested in visiting Jackson, WY itself, Big Sky is an even worse choice.

Renting thru the Rent/Trade Board is fairly straightforward. Just be sure to read thru the "Posting Rules" at the top of the board. You will want to use "Points for Rent" as the title of your thread and make sure you keep the thread "bumped" at least every 7 days.

There is a lot of information at the top of that board and also on the Operations Board with suggestions about renting and even sample rental contracts that others have used.

Just be sure to protect yourself regarding receiving payment and you should be fine.

Sounds like you started late. You should have had this search in by about May, 2007 to have the best chance of success. But something may still come up, esp for KW. IF you can wait until about 30-45 days out you will have your best chance of success. Also, don't hold out for a 2 BR if you can take anything smaller and make it work.
