renting pts and the dining plan

Does anyone know if I rent pts from an owner and add the dining plan do I have to get park tickets at the resort or can I buy them from an outside vendor like Undercover Tourist?? TIA

You do not even have to buy park tickets at all

You can get them wherever you want to. I use UCT and I love them!

As kristenrice said, there's no requirement that you must buy tickets to get the dining plan on DVC points reservations. Just ask the member you're renting from to add the dining plan to your reservation, and get your tickets wherever you'd like.

I've done it many times. Undercover tourist is the vendor that I use. They seem to be the cheapest when I check.

Gosh, thank you so much for this thread. I was freaking out because I was just told by a WDW representative that I had to have tickets to be able to purchase the dining plan and that probably it was the same thing for club members. I am not a club member but I bought points from a member and will be stating at WDW at the end of February. I just bought tickets through an outside vendor equally. So...... you are positive that I will not have problems in obtaining the dining plan???????

You will not have problems with the park tickets, the only difference between the DVC version of the DDP and the regular WDW version is that you are not required to buy your park tickets through Disney.

The DVC owner that you rented the points from has to call Member Services and add the Dining Plan to your reservation, you can not do that yourself. You will pay for the DDP when you check-in at the resort, DVC does not take pre-payments.
