I haven’t rented points since 2013 as I have been getting good discounts.

But looking to rent for next year. I know I have to pay a portion and rest by 45 prior to trip.
But do I book my own tickets on the app thru Disney or do I need the owner to do for me?
Same with dining plan can I do myself on app or need the owner? Can I still make payments towards it or they do in full at purchase?

Lastly since reservation will be in my name with their points can I book my own dining and fast passes. Thanks.

Every owner is different but I would guess that most make you pay in full at time of of purchase. I believe they need to order the dining plan for you but you do the reservations and fastpasses yourself.

DVC doesn't do packages like the regular Disney reservation side does, so you would purchase tickets separately and link them to your MDE account.

If you add a dining plan to a DVC stay, it must be paid for in full at the time it's added to the room reservation.

You would book any ADRs, FP+, etc yourself.

Just to make sure only owner can add dining plan to reservation or can I?

You may need to pay the owner in full to make the reservation. If you go through a broker, you probably will need to pay in full. And plan on playing more per point than you did in 2013. Prices have gone way up since then. Figure in the neighborhood of $16 to 20 per point.

We are renting points through David’s for our upcoming stay. We initially had to put down a deposit (I believe $112) while David’s checked for availability. Once they secured the reservation (which was 2 days later), the entire remaining balance was due.

As for adding the DDP, yes the DVC owner has to do that. I just called David’s and gave them my Disney gift card # I was using to pay for the plan. David’s then gets in contact with the owners and sends you a confirmation when DDP is successfully added. This took a couple of days as well.

The entire process has been seamless renting with David’s. I highly recommend them.

Also, we purchased our tickets separately through Undercover Tourist and linked them to our MDE account. Super easy.
