Renting points

If I rent points direct from a member there is no way to obtain any trip insurance, right?

I spoke with a member that can get us our dream reservation but since I'm traveling with my two kids under three I'm nervous if one of them were to get sick or something that we would stand to lose so much.

Also can we get a dining plan if we rent points direct from a member?


I rented points years and years ago before dining plans and before kids so neither were a factor!

The member needs to add the dining plan for you. At least 48 hours before.

I rented to someone once who got trip insurance. She just needed our contract with the details of what was nonrefundable, and a receipt from me for her payment. So it's possible.

You can get trip insurance - you just have to arrange for it on your own rather than buy it through Disney. There are many choices available.

Is t possible to connect me with some options? My refular travel insurance provider just said that the money we put towards a point rental is non insurable. Wondering who might know more about this.

Here's one option that is apparently endorsed by David's (a rental broker):

If you google travel insurance, you will find others to check out. Most have some type of contact so you can ask if renting a timeshare from an owner would be covered. As maburke posted above, most who do will require that you have some type of contract that specifies when/if the rental is non-refundable and proof of payment.
