Renting Points

I'm officially a DVC member, having received my membership # in the mail yesterday! The contract we bought at SSR has 59 points from 2013 expiring at the end of May (June UY). I knew I wouldn't be able to use these points, so I originally just thought of them as "throwaway points." However, I'm now aware that I might be able to rent them as distressed points.

I have no interest in renting them myself, as this would be my first transaction of any kind and I am totally unsure of myself. Does anyone have any experience with using either Dave's Vacation Club Rentals or The Timeshare Store for renting points out? Can I list with more than one company at a time?

Thanks for any advice you can give me. These boards have been awesome as I've navigated becoming a DVC member. I'm so excited just to call myself a member!!

I was in the exact same position at this exact time last year. I ended up renting most of them out here on disboards for around $6/point, and gave the rest away to another member who could use them.

If you go with one of the rental brokers, you'll probably end up with $2/point after they take their cut. Personally, since they were throw-away points, I'd rather give them away than bother with a broker.

Most rental brokers have a point minimum.

Try calling Member services and explain your situation. Sometimes they allow a one time only banking exception.

If they are 2013 points, they were already banked. I don't believe they allow points to be banked a second time, even as an exception.
