I just called to try to book a studio at SSR for cash in April, to try it out - and four nights was quoted at over $1100. If points are renting for $10 and $11, that would be the way to go, if you had that much flexibility. We'll be at Pop Century, and I guess I can go over to visit, to check it out.

Renting is a great avenue and value that can save you $$$. Even over the years CRO room rates have increased it seems DVC rentals have stagnated at around $10 with an occassional $8 or $9 through in. Someday you may see a $12 to $14 range and even at that price it still would be a bargain. The only downside of renting DVC is there is no maid service until day four and the DVC owner you rented from has complete control of your reservation until you check in.

I think with KTV the price for those points will be over $15 easy. At least I value my membership that much. :thumbsup2

Its been a bargain for us!!!Our upcoming trip is another rental from a DVC member and I can say its been wonderful working with them.As for $15pp stated by "disney fix" maybe one day but I don't think it will happen for a long while. There are plenty of members happy at $10pp or lower especially when they have to sell or lose what they have.Haven't paid more than $9pp yet even our Christmas stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

I think (hope) you will start seeing less renting going on as DVD is starting to buckle up on the renting and is requiring more and more info when you book now. I know there have been threads in the past and I don't want to be responsible for this thread being locked (it will be my first) so I'll quit now.

I swear by renting points! It's the only way I go to Disney. I see absolutely nothing unethical in it or even questionable, as long as you rent from someone who has a good repuation. If a DVC member cannot make it to Disney for the year (for whatever reason), this prevents them from having to pay their dues out of pocket and it also allows someone to enjoy the deluxe resorts that would otherwise not be able to. A 'win-win' for both parties.

My SIL rents her's to me for 9.00 a point. We're going in Oct and staying one night at BWV and the remaining five at BCV.

We are renting for the first time for a May 2009 trip. Doing AKV - we would have NEVER been able to afford this and renting has made this possible!! We are so excited and it truly is a bargain!
