Renting points Question

Good afternoon -

My family and extended family are planning a trip Disney in October 2009. It will be a first trip for all 3 grandchildren (I can't wait!). My question is about renting DVC points. I would ideally love to get into the Boardwalk Villas - but we may need a few of them for the amount of people going (maybe up to 20 people). Is it feasible that I might rent that many points from someone? And what is the likelyness that we'll get in there... any thoughts. Thanks so much.

Keep in mind that you aren't "renting points" (even though we use that term around here.) An owner uses their point to make a reservation, then you would pay the owner to use that reservation.

While it might be tough to find one owner with 20-people's worth of points, you can get several owners to each book a room for you.

The likeliness of your getting in is very good. Offer enough money and people will rent to you. October is a tough month for the Boardwalk - you'll want to have lined up Boardwalk owners ahead of time who can book for you exactly at the 11-month mark. While it will still be cheaper than going through Disney CRO, expect to pay more than the standard $10-12 a point.

For 20 people you may need two 2 bedrooms and a studio. A standard 2 bedroom is 236 points and a prefered is 282 for 7 days per 2 bedroom.
A studio is standard 87 points and 106 for prefered for 7 days.
Total for two 2 bedrooms and a studio is 559 for standard and 670 for prefered.
You need to find an owner or owners soon and have them book at the 11 month window which is Nov. 2008.
I hope it all works out for you and you have a magical vacation.
Taking the grandchildren is great.
