Renting points for AKV? Is this possible within the year?

Hello DVC-ers and thanks for your help,
I am reading as much as I can about the new AKL DVC villas, and have a question: Do you think it is possible that points may be available to rent within the next year here, or since it is such a new and "hot" property, only DVC owners may be able to get reservations? I have rented points before for BWV, and am so interested in this new location. We would need a 2-bedroom. Do you know how many 2 bedrooms will be available in Jambo House this year ( I know once the new addition is completed there will be more). We would also be taking the value view, most likely. Not sure if this view would be easier or harder to get than savannah view (?). I just don't want to get my (and my kids) hopes up that we may be able to stay here if it really is unlikely during the next year. (We travel during "value" season -Jan. Feb. May or Nov. usually).
Thank you so very much!

IIRC, the value view villas are quite limited in number, especially a 2-br, and they'll only be in Jambo. That means that for a 2-br vv, an owner would probably have to have that 11-month booking window (and possibly need to do a day-by-day reservation for a 2-br for any length of time), regardless of season. Plus, the value (and the concierge ones) won't be available for occupancy until early December. :sad2:
IMO, your chances will be much better once Kidani opens, and then you'll have a better shot at renting for a stay (but only a standard or savanna villa).:thumbsup2

I don't believe there are any value rooms open yet, so I wouln't get my heart set on one of those.

You are probably too late for Jan-Feb of 2008. There may be a few spots open in May. You'll either need to pay a decent amount to pry some AKL points loose, or arrange for someobdy with non-AKL points to try and get you a reservation at exatly the 7-month windows. There haven't been a ton of spots open at the 7-month window, but there have been a few.

By November 2008, there's a better shot, but still, I wouln't go getting kids hopes up. By the time Kidani opens, there will be lots of rooms. However, there are only going to be a handful of value rooms. Better plan on getting savanah or standard view.

There are some rooms open for Feb we just booked for Feb 1 - 9 savannah view studio (waitlised for Conceirge) last week

don't know what else is available - I would assume value rooms are gone :confused3

I just wanted to correct one thing in your post. There is no such thing as a value view. What makes a villa a Value villa is its smaller size and lower occupancy.

The Value villas are smaller than the Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge villas by 50 sq ft (studio), 80 sq ft (1BR) and 130 sq ft (2BR). The occupancy numbers for the Value villas are 4 in the studio, 4 in the 1BR and 8 in the 2BR villas. The occupancy numbers for the Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge villas at AKV are 4, 5 and 9 for the studio, 1BR and 2BR because these villas have a sleeper chair in the living area of the 1BR/2BR. The Value 1BR/2BRs do not have the sleeper chair.

As for the view from a Value villa, it could be the Sunset savanna, the pool area or the parking lot.

The Value villas are a great deal and there won't be many of them so I think they will be very hard to get.

Me too! "View" will be either standard or savanna for a value villa!:flower3:

Not exactly what you're looking to book, but today (!) I was able to book an AKV 1 b/r savannah view for Feb. 24-29. It was our first choice for that week but I hardly hoped it would be a possibility. :cool1: To me, if you're going to stay at AKV, you might as well get the SV. If you really want to go next Jan/Feb, fnd someone to rent from and have them call asap...the longer you wait the less likely anything will be available. Hope it works out for you!

I made reservations at AKV the day they opened the reservation line. Got our first preference, 1 bedroom, savannah view, Dec 15-21 (didn't have enough points to get the 22nd as well). My dilemma is that I made the reservation on the assumption that that is when my kids' Christmas break begins. I may be wrong and won't be able to confirm till school starts end of August.

Now, I'm not sure if I should just cancel or rent the reservation out...

It may be possible. We just made reservations for a 2 bedroom CL room in May. It seems like there are still some rooms available in May.
