Is this possible? Do people who have this many points available rent them?

We are thinking about going to Disney with another family and have toyed with the idea of getting a grand villa at ***....but do people rent *** points?

I've rented in the past so I know how this all works....

Plus are GVs at *** hard to come by? more so then other properties?

EDIT: This post has been edited to remove specific resort and point info so as not to be construed as a "Reservation Wanted" post, which is only allowed on the Rent/Trade Board. - Chuck S

To answer the generic questions, yes, some owners do rent large numbers of points, including enough for a GV.

For any GV, at any resort, it is best to contact an owner at that resort about a year prior to your desired travel dates. That way, the owner can use their home resort priority to book your desired accommodations. GVs seem to be in demand everywhere, and having that booking window is important.

We have rented points for a GV twice. Like the pp said, you do have to look for an owner about a year in advance. They are out there! That way they can call at the 11 month window and get you the villa. We stayed at the BWV villas and they were gorgeous and definitely a lot of points but if you split it between families they are not too bad. Good luck!

I am just wondering why a Grand Villa? Those cost more points then renting two 2 bedrooms?

That certainly varies from resort to resort. The OKW GVs are nowhere near the points for 2-2 bedrooms.

We've had an OKW GV a total of 3 times for a week, we host a family reunion every 3 years or so. We are a close knit families with children of similar ages and there nothing like sharing this deluxe type of accomodations and being all together. Watching movies, cooking together and having our children interact all in one big household.

We do the parks but enjoy being together at the resort anf nothing beats a GV. Some will say that it's taking a chance because people cancel and your're then stuck with it but our family isn''t like that and when the date and reservations are made, it's a done deal. I look forward to 2011 for the next one, again at OKW.

I usually borrow for the next year but just like 2008, I was short 100 points so we all contributed and I bought a transfer of points from another DVC at $10 a point.
