Well, all I can say is I am glad it's over. The past two weeks have been a learning experience for me on renting out my points...some good..some bad...some painful and all of it nerve racking.

I have lost count of the number of phone calls to MS to check on availability, book, cancel, change names, etc.

In the process, I got my hand slapped by the Moderators(good job LisaS) for not reading the rules on 30 day reservation posting....I mean why should I have to read the rules....rules are meant for OTHER people, not ME, right ??

I have fax'd numerous contracts to people and then had the agreement fall through; I have sent out at least 75 emails back and forth with different people and all of this for less than 200 points...and then to make it worse, MS wanted to whipsaw me on my banked points(see my other posting).

In the end, the points were rented out and two families in CA will have a great time at the Grand Californian; I cancelled a reservation at BWV for mid March, so I hope someones waitlist came through for them and I used up all of my banked points, so everyone is happy....but it can be a long and tiring process.

It can be a lot of work to rent out points. This is one area that many renters take for granted when they are going through the reservation process. All for, well, maybe $10 PP. Glad you were finally had success renting out your points........

I'm sorry that it was such a difficult experience for you. And I am also glad that it is over.

I cringe when I read the questions that renters ask. Many times they don't bother to learn what it is all about and learn through the DVC member, at their expense.
AAAAAKKKKKK. For $10 a point. Hardly worth it.

I'm blessed that we had a wonderful experience with the person we rented points from. I'm actually trying to do it again.

I was also blessed with the few times I rented points. I think they had a good experience and I know that I did. But I was lucky. All the people (3 or so) I dealt with were well informed about DVC and not paranoid. Makes for a great experience for everyone.

You could have avoided a lot of the hassle if you'd transfered points to a fellow DVC member instead of renting them out to nonmembers.

Sounds like some of them were banked. So those couldn't be transferred to another member.

I have been lucky the last two years. I rented points to my mom's boss, then she recommended me to her friend. I also just rented points to a good friend of mine. I am hoping to be able to just rent out to friends or friends of friends from now on. I only rent out every few years so if I can get 3-4 families that go every 3-4 years I should be doing great.
