1. Do any DVC resorts offer room service? (This question for a friend who is also considering renting. I never get RS except on a cruise but it's important to her.)

2. Our 1st rental is in Nov, a 1BR. 2nd rental is in Apr, a studio.
Both rentals are for 2 nts pre-cruise. While chatting with the Apr. rental owner, I got to thinking about towels and finding a way to hang them somewhere so they'll be dry by the next day. I read a comment somewhere on the DVC boards about requesting more towels. This would be more of an issue in the studio where we won't have a dryer.
At home it's easy to use a towel more than once but seems like in a hotel or on a cruise, towels just don't dry very well.
Can I request extra towels at check in? Our little one may not need a shower every day but dh, ds15 and I sure will.
Is there a charge for extra towels? If so how much?
How do other families deal with towels issues when staying in a studio?

3. Friends will be staying at the Swan while we're at BWV. Are they allowed to come visit us? I wasn't sure how tight security is that they'd have to show a room key or something.

The resorts attached to hotels offer Room Service (BWV, BCV, VWL, I would assume VAKL Jambo and BLT, but not VAKL Kidani?) SSR and OKW do not have room service.

Extra towels at DVC cost extra money - I can't remember how much, and often you aren't charged, but they are SUPPOSED to charge you.

Your friends can visit, they cannot use the pool. But they are welcome at the resort.

So I can request these at check in? It's over $400 to upgrade to a 1BR so I think the extra towel charge is worth it. :goodvibes

An extra set of towels is $6. You can also use the complimentary washer/dryers available at each resort.

Complementary? That's nice.
Part of me wants to upgrade to the 1BR just for the washer/dryer. It would be nice to pack up clean clothes to get on the ship and not having 3 days of dirty clothes when we board.

Thanks everyone!! :goodvibes

Yes, DVC resorts (except in CA) have one or more free laundry rooms for studio stays. Location will vary by resort. In CA, show your room key at the front desk and they will give you coins for use in the regular Grand Californian laundry room.

We stayed in a studio at BLT and AKLV pre-cruise. I did laundry prior to both of our cruises. There are laundry rooms for studio guests, you just have to use your room key to open the laundry room. I packed the purex 3 in 1 sheets. Worked well. There is no charge to use the DVC washer/dryers for studio guests.
Your other choice is to just purchase an extra towel pack.
