Renting out studio part of 2BR villa

The real odd thing is the studio vs 1br vs 2br math is so inconsistent that this may work out.

The 1 BR penalty ( vs 2 studios) is 5 points at RR, 7 points at BWV yet it is (- 3) at GF for the same week.

A 1br + Studio is 27 points more than a 2 BR at GF - and 33 points more at RR. But only 5 points more at BWV?

Planning a large family could have some real inconsistent results depending on your resort. If you don't like one of your teenagers - stay at BWV and you can put them in a separate studio down by the parking lot for cheap!

There are two doors actually. Each one can only be opened from one side. If "your side" is closed, there is no way for the people from the other room to enter via the inside doors.

True, as long as the two sides are not part of a 2 bedroom lock off. If that is the case, then they can just enter either room from the hallway. The keys are the same because it is considered one room.

You technically couldn't rent out part of the room. I wouldn't be comfortable with a stranger having access to my stuff, but I guess if you pack light.

Maybe I missed but, but I'm shocked nobody is talking about room charges. If you are doing this, I'd make sure to NOT have room charging/magic band privileges allowed.

How is it possible that a 2 br lock off could be available, but not a 1br and studio? Do they reserve some of the 2br lock offs to only be booked as a 2br?

It's not, unless it's a confirmed reservation. For instance, I could book a 2BR at BWV (they're all lockoffs) and then find out later that I don't need the studio side because my BFF and her family flaked out on me. If all of the 1BR villas are already booked, I can't just drop the studio. I have to cancel the whole thing and hope that I can pick up just the 1BR side if the 2BR I just let go.

That hold-back of 2BR lock-offs to be reserved only as 2BRs actually does not happen based on what I have seen relating to reservations over the years. Once studios are full, the 2BR lock-offs are full (1BRs are most often still available for some time). Since it has only lock-off 2BRs, BWV has for years had the problem that 2BRs disappear as studios are reserved, e.g., regularly happens at exactly 11-months out for standard view. However, the 1BR units In the same booking category can often still be open even past seven months out.

Legally, DVC cannot withhold 2BR lock-offs in the same booking category to be reserved only as 2BRs by preventing some from having studios filled via demand for studios. That would violate the "first come, first served" reservation rule set out in the POS. A 2BR lock-off can open up for a fairly brief period as time passes due to a studio cancellation (and a 1BR cancellation if the 1BRs were also already previously shown as full)

Yeah I get that. I thought the OP was saying that when they originally booked there was only 2 bedroom available. Maybe I read it wrong.

Where? I went back and looked again and I have never come away with it be allowed. It actually states your points can't be rented in the disclosure section about your home resort points.
From Bay Lake POS.

I could see this being a problem. They could use the magicband to get into the main part of the room
