renting out pts. question

We are looking at renting our pts. that we'll receive in Dec. Can these be rented out now (as in borrowing back and then transferring to another member) or do we have to wait until Dec? If we rent out our pts., can I still borrow back from the next year or is that considered putting pts. into the account? I know I can only send out or into my acct. in any given year, but don't know if that's from another account or within my own account also.

With a Dec. Use Year You can make a reservation for dates after December 1 or you can borrow those points to make a reservation before that date/ The reservations may be made 11 months ahead and your Use Year will have no effect on when you can make a reservation. You can borrow from the next Use Year to make a reservation - just remember that those points cannot be put back if you cancel later and cannot be banked- they will expire at the end of the Use Year into which they were borrowed.

I'm not positive on this, but I do not believe borrowed points can be transferred.

However, I believe you can transfer next year's points and the person who receives them can then borrow them if they need to.

The rules on transferring are very complex, so I'd research them carefully and double-check any ideas you have with MS to be sure you've got it right.

You can only borrow points when actually making a reservation. If you later cancel, the borrowed points become part of that Use Year and cannot be transferred. It is possible to transfer points from one member's 2005 Use Year to another member's 2005 Use Year. (The same would be true regarding transfers from/to the 2006 Use Year.) You cannot transfer your 2005 points to another member's 2006 Use Year.

Once transferred, the points may be banked into the following Use Year.
